Cameroun Media + Media, Rights & Youth for Reliable Information

We are selecting ten major Cameroonian outlets

We are selecting ten major Cameroonian outlets, three in the Centre region (Yaoundé and surrounding areas), three in the Littoral (Douala and surrounding areas) and four in the Far North, to join component A.3.1 of the EU-funded Cameroon Media + project run by CFI, EdukMedia and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).

Each outlet will nominate three journalists (30 direct beneficiaries) for the programme described below.

Are you a Cameroonian radio, TV, print or online outlet based in the Centre, Littoral or Far North and keen to sharpen your newsroom skills?
Ten newsrooms (three from the Centre, three from the Littoral and four from the Far North) will take part in a training pathway that includes:

  • Three intensive five-day courses
    1. Journalism fundamentals – balance, fairness, fact-checking
    2. Online ethics & deontology – spotting and tackling misinformation
    3. A “do-no-harm” approach centred on human-rights safeguards
Each course runs once in Yaoundé, Douala and a northern city (TBC).
  • A four-month, in-house editorial mentoring block for every topic, mixing on-site visits and remote guidance so training turns into robust, responsible output.
  • Peer-to-peer workshops that let participants trade experience and tools.

To apply, upload your outlet’s file plus the CVs and two recent pieces for each of three journalists you will release for all activities. The project covers all training and mentoring costs, including travel, accommodation and meals where needed.
Take this chance to build stronger skills and serve your audience with reliable, balanced and rights-respecting journalism.

Led by CFI, EdukMedia and the IFJ, Cameroon Media Plus lays solid, long-term ground for more reliable, high-quality information and a media landscape that respects human rights and democratic values—needs that become critical in election periods when disinformation spikes.

The project has three pillars:

  • media and information literacy (training trainers),
  • a new media-skills hub,
  • a stronger legal and institutional environment (advocacy, support for the journalists’ union and revival of the press card), plus direct capacity-building for newsroom staff in journalism basics and practice.
